Athena Terms of Use
Effective date: 5 October 2026
These terms cover your use of Athena, a second-screen helper for Overwatch 2, and the shared match database that goes with it. By installing or using Athena you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Athena. How your data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
Who we are
Athena is provided by Athena Team, run by David Stenman, Stockholm, Sweden. Contact: dev.athenateam@gmail.com.
This agreement is between you and the provider only, not with Overwolf. The provider, not Overwolf, is solely responsible for Athena and its content.
Not affiliated with Blizzard
Athena is a fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Blizzard Entertainment. Overwatch and Blizzard are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All other names belong to their owners.
What Athena is, and what it is not
- Athena reads the game events that the Overwolf platform provides and turns them into advice and statistics on a second screen or window.
- Athena never reads the memory of the game, never injects code into it, never reads the screen to extract game data and never sends input to the game.
- Athena does not show information that the game does not give you, such as an enemy's ultimate charge, position, health or cooldowns.
- The advice is informational. It is an estimate based on the data available, and it can be wrong. It does not guarantee a result and you decide what to do in your match.
Using Athena
- We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, worldwide licence to use Athena for your own personal, non-commercial use, free of charge. The app and its source code are not open source: all rights are reserved, and nothing in these Terms gives you a right to copy, modify or redistribute them.
- You must follow the rules of the game and of the platforms Athena runs on, including Blizzard's terms for Overwatch and Overwolf's terms. If a rule changes and Athena no longer fits it, stop using the affected feature.
- You are responsible for your own account and computer.
- Overwolf and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
- If a third party claims that Athena or your use of it infringes its intellectual property, the provider, not Overwolf, is solely responsible for the claim.
- You use Athena at your own risk. We, not Overwolf, are responsible for maintenance and support.
- Athena uses services we do not control (OverFast, Discord, GitHub). Using them is at your own risk and under their terms.
The shared match database
Sharing matches is optional and needs an invite code. You can turn it off at any time in Settings. What is uploaded and how it is stored is described in the Privacy Policy.
If you use it, you agree to:
- upload only matches you actually played, from an unmodified Athena, without editing the data;
- not try to flood, overload or poison the database, and not try to get around its limits;
- not try to work out who is behind a pseudonymous id, and not to use the lookup feature to track, harass or target a player;
- keep your invite code to yourself.
We may revoke an install or an invite, remove data, or change or end the shared database, at any time, for example if these rules are broken or if the free hosting limits are reached. Uploads that cannot be sent are kept on your computer and retried later.
No warranty
Nothing in these Terms, including the warranty disclaimer and the limit of liability below, limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any right you have by law as a consumer.
Athena is provided "as is" and "as available", without promises that it works, is accurate, is always online, or fits a particular purpose. Game events, the Overwolf platform, Overwatch and the third-party services that Athena uses can change or stop working without notice. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using or not being able to use Athena, including lost matches, rank, or a game account being restricted.
Changes and ending
We may change Athena and these terms. When the terms change in a way that matters, the effective date above changes and the new text is published at the same address. We also show a notice in the app at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. You can stop using Athena at any time by uninstalling it; to delete your shared data, see the Privacy Policy.
Governing law
Swedish law applies to these Terms. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live, and you may also bring a claim in the courts of that country. Otherwise the Swedish courts decide. The court of first instance is Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt).
